Unique New Year’s Resolutions for 2023
This year, put aside the weight loss goals and reading lists. Instead, let the University of Tennessee help you with a few unique resolutions to make this year one to remember.
New Year, New Goals
Spend a Weekend Paddling the Tennessee River
What could be more memorable than a weekend spent hiking, biking or kayaking along America’s next great regional trail system? From adventure enthusiasts to casual bike-riders, there is a trail experience on the Tennessee RiverLine for everyone. Start planning your adventure today!
Launched in 2021 by principal partners UT Knoxville and the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Tennessee RiverLine is a long-term project that will provide a new way of experiencing, appreciating and understanding the Tennessee River and its 40,000-square-mile watershed that touches four states.
Attend a Live Performance
Whether you’re looking for improv shows or musical or theatrical performances, the UT Chattanooga Fine Arts Center offers an array of options for a night on the town. Scan the schedule and purchase tickets today!
Enjoy a Movie at The Martin
If you thought seeing a new release for $5 was a thing of the past, think again! Located in the heart of the UT Southern campus, The Martin features first run movies and offers four showtimes a week. All matinee tickets are $5 and evening show prices range from $5 to $7.
Experience the Roar of the Rodeo Crowd
Pack your boots and chaps and cowboy hats and head to West Tennessee April 13-15, 2023, to experience UT Martin’s 55th Annual Spring College Rodeo. More than 30,000 spectators flood the indoor McWherter Ag complex on campus, making the rodeo one of region’s hottest shows.
Schedule an Annual Checkup
Commit to your health by scheduling an annual checkup with one of the thousands of physicians, dentists or optometrists trained at the UT Health Science Center. Did you know that UTHSC is the largest educator of health care professionals in Tennessee? In fact, UTHSC trains approximately 75% of the state’s dentists and 34% of Tennessee’s pharmacists.
Master a New Skill
Whether you’re looking for a new hobby or beginning a new venture in agriculture, UT Extension offers educational programs in a variety of subject matters. From beekeeping to gardening and backyard poultry to farm management—UT Extension is a go-to resource for resolutions every year.
Learn a New Language
The Tennessee Language Center, an agency of the UT Institute for Public Service, offers affordable, small group classes in some of the most popular world languages. The center also is available to teach custom classes for small groups or businesses with a common language goal, and many of the instructors are available for private lessons. Contact the center today to inquire about in-person and online offerings!
Bring an Everywhere You Look, UT Mural to Your Community
We’re telling our story of statewide impact in a big way—by painting murals on barns and buildings across Tennessee. We’re on a mission to paint the state orange, and we need your help identifying high-traffic, high-visibility properties. Know a spot that has what it takes? Tell us about it! If you’ll provide the canvas, we’ll bring the paint!
Become a UT Promise Mentor and Help Students Achieve Their Dreams
One of the best ways to make an impact in the lives of students is by serving as a mentor for UT Promise scholarship recipients. The innovative scholarship guarantees free tuition and mandatory fees to Tennessee residents who qualify for HOPE and whose family household income is under $60,000 a year. To ensure successful outcomes, students must complete service hours and meet with a mentor each semester. What could be more rewarding than volunteering your time and expertise to mentor some of Tennessee’s most deserving students? Mentors invest an average of 10 to 15 hours a year. Sign up today!
Everywhere you look, UT is helping Tennesseans live life to the fullest! What will be your best moments of 2023?
Cheers to a new year and the adventures and opportunities to celebrate that await!
