Chief Information Officer

Ramon Padilla, Jr. serves as the University system’s chief information officer and reports to the Chief Financial Officer. The Division of Technology Solutions (DTS) supports the University’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems including Finance, HR, Payroll, Procurement, Research, Alumni and Development. In addition, this office is responsible for information technology policy and promotes collaboration among the campuses and institutes in the areas of security, procurement, and operational efficiencies.

Before joining the UT System, Padilla led information technology departments in government and higher education. From 2014 to 2020, Padilla lead Minnesota State Colleges and Universities’ information technology services as vice chancellor and chief information officer. He previously contracted through Six Dimensions as an independent technology consultant, during which he worked with a chief information officer of a top 10 research university to perform reviews as well as offer policy and program advice.

Other positions he has held include, associate vice chancellor and deputy chief information officer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; assistant vice chancellor and chief information officer for the State University System of Florida Board of Governors; senior project manager at Kyra Infotech; senior project manager at Keane; and director/administrator of information services with Jefferson County Government/Louisville Metro Government in Louisville, Kentucky.

Padilla earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Kentucky in 1984 and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Louisville in 1987.
