Aspiring to greater excellence in a time of limited resources makes strategic decision-making all the more critical. To ensure good stewardship and purposeful use of resources toward clearly defined goals, a strategic planning process for the University of Tennessee System is now underway, with a final plan anticipated by June 2012. The process will be directed by the office of the President with close involvement of the Board of Trustees. The outcome will be a plan to serve as a roadmap for the University's next decade.
The plan will advance the educational, discovery, creative and outreach programs of all UT campuses and institutes. The plan also will further refine the role of the UT System, its long-term goals and means of achieving them.
Success depends on engagement and input from every UT constituency. The goal is to fully engage our diverse internal and external audiences in a totally transparent process. I wholeheartedly encourage every individual to offer suggestions and feedback. Questions or comments can be submitted at any time on the Strategic Plan feedback page.
I look forward to sharing our progress with you.

Joseph A. DiPietro
UT President
