Bonnie Yegidis became University of Tennessee vice president for academic affairs and student success on Sept. 15, 2008.
Yegidis has extensive experience in academic leadership. She was vice president for academic affairs and provost at Florida Gulf Coast University and associate vice president for academic affairs and provost at the University of Georgia. She also served as dean and professor of the School of Social Work at UGA.
As UT vice president for academic affairs and student success, Yegidis oversees academic and student affairs for the statewide UT System. She serves as staff to the academic and student affairs committee of the UT Board of Trustees and coordinates mission statements, academic strategic plans, establishment and revision of academic organizations and the admission, progression and retention standards.
Yegidis also serves as liaison to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation, the Southern Regional Education Board and the Tennessee Board of Education and Department of Education.
She earned a bachelor’s degree at Montclair State University in New Jersey and a master’s of social work at West Virginia University. Yegidis earned her doctorate at the University of South Florida.
While earning her doctorate and afterward, she was a professor in the School of Social Work at USF and rose to faculty assistant to the president before going to Georgia.
In 2007, Yegidis was selected by the American Council on Education for the Institute for Chief Academic Officers. She received the Distinguished Alumna Award for the School of Social Work at West Virginia University in 2005. She is co-author of “Research Methods for Social Workers” and has served on many professional and community service boards.
