Charles M. Peccolo

Charles M. Peccolo was appointed vice president and treasurer of the University of Tennessee in 2000. He is responsible for all cash management and investments, financial reporting, payables, risk management, and purchasing functions at the university.

Peccolo started his career with the university in 1976 as a staff internal auditor and after a year moved to financial analyst where he headed up the cash management program and capital outlay accounting for the institution. In 1982 he was appointed assistant treasurer and four years later, controller. He became acting treasurer in 1989 and was named treasurer in 1990.

Peccolo earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville in 1973, a master’s of accountancy in 1980, and obtained the designation of certified public accountant in 1977 and certified cash manager in 1986.

Peccolo is a member of several professional and community organizations. He is currently a board member and treasurer of the University of Tennessee Research Corporation and the University of Tennessee Foundation. Additionally, he is a board member and past president for the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers (SACUBO), a National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) board member, and a board member and investment committee chair of the East Tennessee Foundation.

Peccolo also served as treasurer and board member of the UT Federal Credit Union, past president of the Knoxville Exchange Club and Financial Management Association of Knoxville, and is a former Ledger editor and secretary for SACUBO. In addition, Peccolo has been involved as an officer or committee member in his homeowners association, school PTA, and other community groups such as Knoxville United Way, Children’s Center of Knoxville, Bearden High School Foundation, Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities and House, Knoxville Christian Community Foundation, and East Tennessee Education Fund.

Peccolo was born in Alamosa, Colorado, and grew up in Kansas before coming to school in Tennessee. He is married to the former Dulcie L. Sybouts of Lincoln, Nebraska, a professor at the University of Tennessee. They have two daughters, Jessica and Meredith, both UT graduates.
