940 Cherokee Capacities
The below information is provided to assist university leadership to make informed decisions about requesting the presidential residence to support their event goals. There is some flexibility to adjust, but the fiscal and event impact need to be considered during planning.
Capacities
Patio
- Seated 120 – 160 (variation accounts for set-up and use of lawn)
- Reception 100-200 (weather is a significant factor)
Patio tented
Inside
- Seated small dinner 12
- Seated dinner spread through house 30-40
Supportable, but the requestor must consider whether the value of using the residence outweighs the additional costs (increased use of facilities; rental of tables, chairs, china etc.). Lengthy programs not recommended.
- Reception with program 40-60
- Reception without program 60-80
Other Considerations
Variables that impact capacity
- Program
- Serving style and type of food
- Weather
- Parking – if over 50 cars are expected, group travel is recommended and a shuttle should be planned from the park parking lot.
Typical expenses include:
- Police Officers
- Flowers
- Catering
- Beverages
- Rental equipment
- Facilities Services charges
- Decorations for events with specific theme
Remember
The focus of events scheduled at 940 Cherokee should be quality over quantity.
